Birth
Birth is the begining of the life of a living being. Whether during the explusion of the mother’s womb in mammals or egg for birds, fish and reptiles.
The term «birth» is also used to refer to the begining of an era or phenomenon such as fashion, mouvements etc..
In humans,
birth is preceded by a nine-month period know as prégnance. This period begins with the fertilization of the ovum by the sperm that will form an egg that divides to become an embryo and a fetus. This division continues until birth.
In humans, prégnance lasts about 39 weeks.
Birth occurs when the child is evicted and the umbilical cord is cut. For all couples, the moment of
birth is greatly anticipated and can be very stressful, parents often worry about the baby. Will it be healthy? Will it have all it’s members? Will the mother be able to breastfeed? Proper care? The
birth of a child brings both lots of joy and anxiété, but what a feeling when you see your child for the very first time.
By law,
birth is the starting point of the existence of a person’s legal personality, which confers rights but also obligations. Thus, any act that shatters the life of a human being is considered a homicide. We can raise the case of abortion, which remains a controversial subject and has been for a very long time. Globally there are 31 abortions per 100 births, but in several countries like India, China and South Korea, abortion is used to select the sex of the child. They priviledge the
birth of boys and may decide to terminate the pregnancy to avoid the
birth of a girl. Due to selective abortion, the asian continent accumulates male births and millions of men are unable to find a spouse due to this.
This is certainly not a problem in Quebec. To help increase the
birth rate, a little help from gouvernments is essential.
In 2006,
Quebec recorded 82,500 births, an increase of 8% from the 77,250 births in 2005, an increase that raises the
birth rate to 1.6, could this just be a coincidence or is this due to the new parental insurance plan?
Hopefully this new plan helps to raise the
birth rate in
Quebec it is greatly needed!
